Famous Bled & Sweet Radovljica
Bled and Radovljica are renown around the globe as two of the brightest Slovenian gems. The scenic view of Bled Island and the calming nature of fresh Alpine air will stay close to your heart.Triglav National Park
We start in the morning with a short bus ride from Ljubljana. Our first destination is the town of Bled, where we begin our journey to the Pokljuška soteska Gorge. We start our hike at a local guesthouse in Zatrnik, and continue by descending on a small path to the edge of the gorge. Crossing over a natural bridge, we walk through a cave tunnel, Pokljuška luknja, to its bottom. From that point on, we start our ascent, walking on a gallery of wooden bridges and climbing wooden steps, continuing our hillside hike until we reach our starting point, thus finishing the trail in the shape of figure eight. After the successful hike, we replenish our strength with a light meal.
Boat ride to Bled Island
We will have enough time to chat about our adventure during our boat ride to Bled Island in a Pletna – a traditional local boat, operated by just one oarsman. At the heart of the island stands a spectacular church with a freestanding tower. Though built in medieval times, the church is decorated with the remains of Gothic frescos and rich Baroque equipment. The provost’s house was built in the late 17th century, with a chaplaincy added a century later. Leading up to the church from the south side of the island is a stunning Baroque stairway with 99 stone steps. The church is regularly maintained and open to the public, and we make a 45-minute stop there.
Sweet Radovljica
After returning from the island, we bid Bled farewell and spend the afternoon in Radovljica, followed by a guided tour of the old town quarter, an 18th-century manor, a historical bunker, a parson's house, and a scenic viewpoint. Upon request, we can also visit the Museum of Apiculture and take a tour of the alpine museum. We conclude our day of adventure with a late gurman lunch or an early dinner.
